Masters of the Strings: Introducing Accordi Musicali Academy’s Violin Professors

From July 2 to August 12, 2025, aspiring musicians will have the extraordinary opportunity to work with some of the world’s most distinguished professors at the Accordi Musicali Academy 2025, held amid the breathtaking landscapes of Abruzzo, Italy. Whether refining technical precision, expanding interpretative depth, or preparing for international stages, students will find themselves immersed in an environment that nurtures both skill and soul.


This year, the academy is proud to welcome an illustrious trio of violin virtuosi, namely Roman Kim, Pavel Vernikov, Svetlana Makarova, and Zohrab Tadevosyan, each representing the pinnacle of pedagogical excellence, blending years of expertise with a genuine passion for the instrument.


Roman Kim: Kim is a Kazakhstani-German maestro, winner of the 2012 International Violin Competition "Valsesia Musica," who gained international prominence with his memorable performance of Bach’s Air and exhibiting his groundbreaking ability to play all four parts of the score on one violin. Widely regarded as one of the most innovative violinists of his generation, he has performed in reputable venues all around the globe, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Cologne Philharmonic, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Romanian Athenaeum, and the Taipei National Concert Hall etc. alongside orchestras like the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Halle, the Aachen Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli, the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker.


Pavel Vernikov: The highly acclaimed violinist Vernikov garnered a reputation as a virtuoso more than twenty years ago, winning prestigious awards such as the International ARD Violin Competition in Munich and the Grand Prix at the International Violin Competition “Vittorio Gui” in Florence. In his long-established career as a musician, he has appeared at such prestigious venues as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, La Salle Gaveau in Paris, La Scala in Milan and Santa Cecilia in Rome. Additionally, he teaches and gives masterclasses worldwide, in Italy, France, Finland, Spain, Germany, etc. and among his many laureate students are renowned musicians such as Massimo Quarta, Fumiaki Miura, and Lorenza Borrani, among others.


Svetlana Makarova: First prize winner at the Moscow International Youth Tchaikovsky Competition, Makarova has performed as a violinist at many festivals in Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland and Japan. Since 2003, she has been a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra and, from 2006, of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, where she collaborated with musicians such as J. Levine, D. Sitkovetsky, M. Vengerov and Y. Temirkanov, among others. She also takes part in other festivals such as Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland), Miyazaki Music Festival (Japan), Musical Spring (Moldova), Musical Festival in LA (USA), Festival "Paganiniana" (Italy), etc. She has also made several CD recordings (with pieces by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Brahms, Shubert, and Schönberg) as a soloist and a member of several chamber ensembles.


Zohrab Tadevosyan: Tadevosyan is an Armenian-born Spanish violinist and pedagogue. A regular guest at the most important European festivals and masterclasses, such as the Santander Music Festival and the Swiss International Music Academy, he collaborates as a soloist with different orchestras and conductors. In terms of his pedagogy aspects, since 2010, he has taught at the Reina Sofía School of Music, working together with his Musical Mentor, Professor Ana Chumachenco and since 2024, has served as Visiting Professor at Leopold Mozart University, Augsburg and been Chair of the Jury at the 2024 International Aram Khachaturian Violin Competition.
